Caribbean born artist Errol P. Bruce creates life through art with the use of Marquetry. Errol has had his art displayed in various galleries and is one of the few artist in the U.S. to practice Marquetry as an art form. Errol is self-taught and uses his expertise in Marquetry to create amazingly detailed and vibrant one of a kind artwork. Errol can be commissioned for specific requests.
The art of Marquetry is a technique dating back to 16th century France although it was originally used as a decorative technique in furniture and craft work. Errol's Trinidadian upbringing as a costume designer for carnivals has given him an affinity for color and texture which gives his art vibrance and personality. Errol has transformed the technique into a mesmerizing art form.
Surprisingly no paint is used in any of Errol's designs. He uses tiny individual pieces of exotic woods from all over the world, some the size of a pin head, which is then inlaid to form intricately detailed, phenomenal imageries and vibrant designs.
